My Great Uncle flew aboard this vessel as its Radio Operator/Gunner, he is bottom middle, William K McFadden.

My uncle, 2LT Lorenz L. „Kumu“ Kumeilike from Hawaii, was a navigator with the 422nd BS during the same time as your great uncle, so they likely knew each other. I have a photo of Kumu with his crew on a JJ ship, but am uncertain which specifically. He took photos of a couple other B-17s including Towering Titan, Naughty Virgin, and one other that I’m unable to see clearly. Kumu was a childhood hero of mine and died too soon in August 1989 from cancer. He was only 65. His wife still has all the original photos in B-17s and later during Korea when he flew P-47s and P-51s then with the Hawaii ANG.
