My father, Frank Lesnewich , was the flight engineer/ top turret gunner of I believe the original crew of the Gal. Mission log shows his 1st mission being on 13 May 44, the last being on 9 Sep 44. He passed away at the age of 86.

Tim, Your father’s name sounds familiar, I believe I remember my father talking about your father as he discussed some of the crew. My father was Tom Scott, but they all called him “Scotty”. My father attended some of the crew reunions over the years. Dad passed in 2006 and I miss him immensely.

HI Frank:
My Dad was the Radio man on The Glittering Gal. He passed in 2018. I am in awe and grateful for all the men who flew and made it back.

Anybody have a picture of the Gal’s nose art? My dad Ted Sheltz was one of the pilots of the Gal. My Dad died in 2010.

My father was the flight engineer, top turret gunner on the Glittering Gal . His name was Frank Lesnewich. After my father passes away I came across a log book of the crew and their missions. I don’t see your father listed as one of the pilots. Two possible reasons, I think there was another B-17 nicknamed the Glittering Gal in the bomb group or my fathers last mission in the Gal was 09/08/1944. Maybe your dad one was of the pilots that took over the Gal at that time. To my knowledge there was artwork on the nose, just Glittering Gal in block letters.
