Dean Sanner (pilot), back row second from left, was my dad’s cousin. Served in WW2, Korea and Vietnam. He completed 35 missions in Reich’s Ruin, was then transferred to recon, where he flew a de Haviland Mosquito (MM370 I think) His plane went down during an Operation Aphrodite mission on the Harve U-boat pens in France (the day after Joseph Kennedy was killed in the same mission series) He was captured on Aug 14, 1944 and spent the remainder of the war a POW. My dad told me the bare bones of this story many times, but I discovered the details only after searching for records online.
