B-17 42-32026 / Tis a Mystery Details
B-17 #026 flog auf der 3. Position des Führungsgeschwaders, startete wie gebrieft um 8.34 Uhr im Steigflug und verschwand in den Wolken über der Basis, die sich zwischen 3000 und 9.000 Fuß befand, mit mäßigen bis schweren Vereisungsbedingungen, die bei etwa 7.000 Fuß gemeldet wurden. Die B-17 #026 wurde nach dem Eintritt in die Wolken weder gesehen noch gehört.

While in an antiques mall in Hammond, IN, I picked up the wedding photo of Sgt. Leroy A. Brandenburg and his wife taken 2/28/1944 in Wausau, WI–10 short months before his death in December of 1944. If you’d like a copy of that photo (he is wearing his best Air Force uniform including cap) for your archives, I will email it to you.

LeRoy was my 2nd oldest brother. I am 80 and the youngest of 7 children. We were always told LeRoy went down in the English Channel. I am greatful to finally learn the truth. I only wish the rest of my family knew. I would be very thanful for any other militry information about LeRoy. I have the wedding pictures.
