Am 18. Dezember 1943, nachdem wir unser Flugzeug abgeworfen hatten, stiegen sieben unserer Besatzungsmitglieder, mich eingeschlossen, in das Zehn-Mann-Boot. Leutnant Arthur J. Simpson, Oberleutnant Richard A. Thorne und Unteroffizier William N. Smith, die anderen drei Besatzungsmitglieder, befanden sich in dem Fünf-Mann-Floß, das an unser Floß gebunden war. Am 21. Dezember kam ein Sturm auf, und wir hielten es für das Beste, das Floß von Simpson loszubinden. Simpsons Floß als Sicherheitsmaßnahme zu lösen. Während des Sturms auf See wurden wir getrennt, und ich habe weder It. Simpson oder die anderen Insassen des kleinen Floßes nicht mehr gesehen.

Thank you for changing his name in the blue box that lists his last name, however it is the statement made by my father and his name below with the list of serviceman where is name is incorrect:

it has taken me a long time to finally put my Dad, William Rayson in the plane he flew in and the comrads that flew with him. The description above is almost word for word of that my Dad wrote in his log book. Thank you to all who severed, they were true warriors.
