Ferried overseas and assigned to the 457th Bomb Group at Glatton on 11 February 1944; transferred to the 546th Bombardment Squadron, squadron code BK-M, 384th Bombardment Group, station 106, Grafton Underwood on 20 February 1944; Missing in Action 1m on a mission to Aschersleben on 22 February 1944 with Pilot: Henry Markow, Co-pilot: Edward Lundgren, Navigator: John Schweikart, Bombardier: George Littleton, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Elmer Fooder, Radio Operator: Owen Atkinson, Ball turret gunner: George Stropek, Waist gunner: Arthur Madden, Waist gunner: Edwin Sager,Tail gunner: Joseph Misiewicz (10 Prisoner of War); Shot down by enemy aircraft and crash landed about three miles from Wesel, Germany; Missing Air Crew Report 2464.
