B-17 44-6538 / Miss Prissy Details
Waist gunner S/Sgt. Thaen Kwock Lee.
He recalled that he and his crew bailed out in their parachutes and while descending back to earth, they were attacked by German Me-262s:
Three fighters came after me. The first one missed and the second also missed. When the third one came by I was too low for him to shoot at me. When I hit the ground a burst of machine gun was fired at me. I hit the dirt fast. Then German soldiers came and drove me on a motorcycle to a building. On the way we passed a row of dead American airmen, about twelve of them covered with blood soaked parachutes. I knew they were shot dead on the way down.

Dear Sir,
I have read your post regarding the B-17 Miss Prissy. I am very interested in everything related to the air raid of March 22, 1945. I live in the town of Kralupy nad Vltavou, which was one of the targets.
I would like to kindly ask you for any information about your father’s fate during the second world war, including his time in the prisoner-of-war camp.
If possible, I would also be very grateful for any photographs of the Miss Prissy crew, if any exist.
Thank you for your kindness, and I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Pavel Třešňák

My father, Harold Brewer, was the flight engineer and top turret gunner on Miss Prissy. As the plane went down in an uncontrolled death spiral with two engines gone, he increased the power on the other two to an amazing 72 inches of mercury by closing the waste gates and simultaneously adjusting the mixture. Ralph Bates was able tho regain control and leveled off at about 5,000 feet , just below the clouds, thus shaking off the Me 262 that was following them. Five men made it to Poland and became Russian prisoners, while the other five, who bailed out, became German prisoners. All ten men survived the war, and Dad and Ralph remained friends until Ralph died.
Dad was the last remaining member when he died.
