This was my fathers plane, LTC Carl L Mcdowell, My father flew 35 missions over Germany and the Yanks and a Jerk was ditched in the English channel, a French fishing vessel picked up my dad and his crew, within 50 mile of occupied France, my father was the first are member to get out of the plane, how lucky my father was. he was a recipient of the “Lucky Bastard Club”. My father loved to fly, he was truly remarkable and retired with many service medals, including the DFC, retired in 1962 from Travis AirForce Base.
