Shot down by enemy aircraft while on a mission to bomb the aircraft factories at Halle, Germany. Attack caused a fire in the bomb bay and the aircraft exploded. 4 members of the crew were able to bale out and the other 5 were blown clear. AIrcraft crashed at Teistungen, Germany. 5KIA 4POW MACR 8185.
