Etwa 12:15Uhr nahe 5200 N – 1253 E, Flugzeug #466 fliegt Position #6, Hohes Geschwader, 390. Gruppe, fiel nach einem Angriff durch feindliche Flugzeuge aus der Formation mit #4-Motor in Segelstellung, brennender rechte Tragfläche und beschädigtem Heck, wobei beobachtet wurde, dass eines feindliches Flugzeuch von #466 zerstört wurde. Das Flugzeug drehte sich auf den Rücken und begann abzustürzen. 1 Fallschirm gesehen.

my great grandfather was the ground mechanic assigned to the Setting pretty, my grandmother (his daughter) has some amazing pictures of her. Private first class Dan Sargent started his military career on Tinnian as her ground mechanic and retired Brig Gen Dan Sargent in the Tennessee National Guard.

At a place called “La Briquetterie” near Ciergnon. The 10 airmen were hidden by Jean Martin de Lessive in the pavilion of the Chêne Hebran in the royal domain. Guy NICAISE drew 1 B17 on a chalk wall and wrote the names of the airmen. King Leopold III and the future King Baudouin made sure that the design and inscriptions were preserved. They were brought back to England on 8 Sep 44
